Welcome to The Liver Hope Foundation

Hello, and thank you for visiting our website. I’m honored to welcome you to The Liver Hope Foundation—a place built on hope, education, early detection, and support for individuals and families affected by fatty liver disease.

If you are here because you or someone you love is facing liver health concerns, please know this: you are not alone. Many people feel overwhelmed or unsure of what to do next, and our mission is to bring clarity, guidance, and real support when it’s needed most.

Our goal is simple but urgent: help people catch liver disease early, get the right care and resources, and take action before it becomes severe. We believe early detection saves lives. We believe education empowers families. And we believe that with the right tools and support, change is possible.

Understand testing options like FibroScan, ultrasound, MRI, and biopsy
Take the next step toward screening, treatment, and lifestyle change

Stories of hope and healing

my name is Neil phelps this is my story

the year is 2022

I was working at rebel convenience store I tried calling out of work I was throwing up before my shift at home called my boss to call out off work she said no sorry I need you to come in I said ok so I went to work  later on in the keeper showing everything up so when I got off of work I had 2 days off I peeped thowing up my dad called my boss ask called out for me and told he we we're going to go to the hospital thanks goodness I did when I got the hospital, we got checked in one of the nurses asked me to walk to a chair and I couldn't even walk. My dad said he's gonna fall down. The nurse said he's not he can walk. A few minutes later, I fell down. The nurse picked me up put me on a gurney and rush me too. The emergency room they performed a lot of test a few hours would buy and the nurse and the doctors talk to my father. They said he needs to be on dialysis my kidney has failed well then my liver numbers shot up to be 25,000 the the most any daughters have ever seen out here the doctors the nurse is contacted a few local hospitals outside of Nevada. They contacted a hospital in Arizona and Loma Linda university in southern California there I got arrested from the hospital here in Nevada to Loma Linda university.  Fortunately, this story takes a traumatic turn. I had three strokes in California and one stroke hearing Nevada my breathing went out control. The doctor  Loma Linda university. Performed over three tracheotomies my breathing roof they go up and down from there. I was in a a coma this whole time. Spoke to my father and said we believe it be the best interest for you to get a liver transplant. My dad and the doctors said a prayer. Well, fortunately, I did not have to have a liver transplant because my liver numbers improved. I diagnosed in May that year with nonalcoholic fatty liver diseas my dad said that is impossible doesn't drink    I was driven  back to Nevada. Where is transferred to kindred Hospital where they performed the removal of my trachea on me having me start physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech.  Then after there are transported to Saint Rose sienna campus, physical therapy, rehab rehabilitation hospital, where I received physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy three hours a day. I could walk talk go to the bathroom all on my own. They're a lot  limitations. I cannot do.  One thing I have learned is how to love myself appreciate myself and tell myself I can do anything and everything. I put my heart and mine too

Now let me tell you, bro I started this organization back in 2024 researched nonprofit organizations in the United States  come find out we only have less then 4  nonprofits in the us so the race was on my mind and determination   was on the rise I did the  research I looked up pod cast I looked up stuff I took and took upon myself to open the liver hope foundation to help support educate research and raise money to end liver disease overall
