Kidney doctor resources and support
The Liver and kidney Hope Foundation provides free, plain-language kidney health education for people in Henderson, Nevada, and beyond. Find a guide for your condition, understand how kidney and liver health can connect, and take the next informed step with your healthcare provider or nephrologist.
We are not a medical provider and do not offer diagnosis, testing, treatment, or medical consultations.
Free kidney health support
Start with the resource that fits your questions. Our no-cost guides, community connections, and Social Work resource support are designed to help you feel more prepared—not to replace care from a licensed healthcare professional.
Condition guides
Download clear guides on chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, kidney failure, diabetic and high blood pressure-related kidney disease, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease, and more.
Support and connections
Contact our Social Work department for support and resource connections, request an information packet, or find and join a local chapter so you do not have to navigate kidney health alone.
Dialysis and transplant education
Learn about dialysis, kidney transplant evaluation, transplant waitlists, living and deceased donation, and combined liver-kidney transplantation through free educational resources.
Kidney and liver health are connected
Complex organ health questions deserve understandable answers. Our resources explain important connections, including hepatorenal syndrome caused by advanced liver disease, the increased kidney disease risk associated with fatty liver disease, hepatitis B and C-related glomerular disease, primary hyperoxaluria and kidney stones, and combined liver-kidney transplants. Our information is free and has no sales agenda, with diagrams and fill-in worksheets to help you participate in your care.
For symptoms such as swelling, foamy or bloody urine, fatigue, rising blood pressure, or flank pain, contact your healthcare provider or a nephrologist promptly. For urgent or life-threatening symptoms, call 911 or seek emergency care.
Learn what to ask your kidney doctor
A kidney doctor is called a nephrologist. While The Liver Hope Foundation does not provide medical appointments, our resources can help you prepare for a visit with your clinician. Explore information on kidney blood and urine tests, imaging, symptoms, dialysis, and transplant options, then discuss what applies to you with your healthcare team.
